Old Style is coming! Old Style is coming!

Perhaps you're one of the "lucky dogs" who remember -- with great fondness -- the glory days of reaching for an ice cold, Old Style tall boy while chasing down a Vienna Beef chili dog, watching the Cubs play great summer baseball at Wayne's Chicago Red Hots. What good be better than Old Style and Cubs post season baseball? After all, it's only been two years ago that both the Cubs and Old Style slipped away from our realities and into our dreams.

Losing Old Style, or "Old School" (I'll refrain from using that other lewd moniker spawned from the south side Chicago pubs) has been one of the simple pleasures in life, that simple guys like us, simply must have. Once distribution was halted, perhaps a thousand or so customers have been peppering us with the same question: when will Old Style return to team Waynes?

Just like any juicy trade that pertains to your favorite team floats around the sports talk shows before confirmation actually hits the media, the beer rumor mill is also churning hard and it looks as though your ship is coming in!

:ike Jim Rome dangles quarterback trades and power forward signings around, I've got some sweeeet beer gossip. After speaking with a decision maker at Columbia distributing in Poprtland, Oregon, I am delighted to report that he's very positive about the return of the big unit (Old Style) to the Wayne's Chicago red Hot roster.

"We all know about the difficulties with routing and distribution out of Wisconsin in the past, obviously," he said, wanting to remain anonymous, "but in the near future, Old Style will be back in uniform and back on the mound at Wayne's, I'm confident of that."

One thing is certain, with fall leaves turning gold and an October World Series chill in the air, there won't be any Old Style around to suck down while watching Cliff Lee go up against Tim Lincecum. But perhaps there may be in time for the Super Bowl? Or Final 4? Or the start of baseball season? For now, just relax and sleep easy knowing that better days are ahead. So come on down and have a nice hot dog at Wayne's; we'll keep you posted.
